Google Alerts – Keep Updated on Industry News
Would you like to get a notification every time your name, your company, or your most important keywords are mentioned somewhere on the web?
It is important to know if anybody has said anything about you or your business online. Google Alerts is one of the many free and useful online tools Google offers to anyone on the web, including companies that are looking for an easy way to monitor their online presence without an expensive monitoring.
A Google alert is simple to set up — just search a keyword, click on ‘create alert’ and — voila — we’ve got a new Google Alert. Google will start sending email alerts whenever it finds updates matching our keyword on the web. Users can set notifications to come daily, weekly, or monthly.
Setting up Google Alerts is quick and easy. Here’s how to do it.
Visit the Google Alert Page.
You’ll set and manage all your alerts from this page.
- Type your desired search term into the box.
- Click “Show options” to tailor your alerts. You can filter your results by delivery frequency, sources, language, region, and quality
- Hit “Create alert.” You’ll start getting notifications for your alerts right away.
Come back to the Google Alerts page when you need to manage or update your alerts.

Google Alerts misses out on a lot of results. It’s not as advanced as dedicated social listening tools but I come across people every now and then who mention Google Alerts as the go-to social listening tool
Consider the following ways alerts can be used to benefit a business:

- Mentions of Company Executives
- Awareness of Customer Activities
- Watching Competitors
